Watercolor Illustration based on a vintage a-symmetrical photo I found.The girl's intense expression was so captivating & intense, I knew I must paint her portrait.
She is like a child-godess, or Saint- but most of all, to me she resembles" The Ozma of Oz", you can decide- maybe she's both...?
I like this a lot. This is elegant, charming and fresh, and the watercolors aren't at all overworked (which is why I always work with acrylics, I compulsively have to work areas over and over again). And I love your subject- I've been a big Oz book fan as long as I can remember. In fact, I was just glancing through "Ozma of Oz" to remind myself how John R. Neill did his clouds.
And congrats on the book you published last year! I've been doing a lot of children's educational stuff lately, and trying to break into trade. So I know how hard it is, and I'm glad to see when a worthy illustrator gets her foot in the door. It's available through Amazon, right?
Thanks a lot!
Yes, the book's available from Amazon, it's a Christmas story though, so it might be a bit out of season right now ^_^;
Thank you for your interest in my work, I also love the OZ book series and very much thought this girl reminded me of her. take care!
It looks almost like one of those edwardian art nouveau paintings. I love it.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
