Artist's Comments

Watercolor Illustration based on a vintage a-symmetrical photo I found.The girl's intense expression was so captivating & intense, I knew I must paint her portrait.
She is like a child-godess, or Saint- but most of all, to me she resembles" The Ozma of Oz", you can decide- maybe she's both...?

Thank you for your kind words!
(there are a few technical flaws- but other than that, I'm very pleased how she came out too :) ) ^__^

I like this a lot. This is elegant, charming and fresh, and the watercolors aren't at all overworked (which is why I always work with acrylics, I compulsively have to work areas over and over again). And I love your subject- I've been a big Oz book fan as long as I can remember. In fact, I was just glancing through "Ozma of Oz" to remind myself how John R. Neill did his clouds.

And congrats on the book you published last year! I've been doing a lot of children's educational stuff lately, and trying to break into trade. So I know how hard it is, and I'm glad to see when a worthy illustrator gets her foot in the door. It's available through Amazon, right?
:iconbluebirdie:
Thanks a lot!
Yes, the book's available from Amazon, it's a Christmas story though, so it might be a bit out of season right now ^_^;
Thank you for your interest in my work, I also love the OZ book series and very much thought this girl reminded me of her. :) take care!

Sure! But I was hoping you could swing by and take a look at my gallery... :D *Flashes big cheesy grin*

It looks almost like one of those edwardian art nouveau paintings. I love it.
