Eight Sacred Souls- Chapter 17Chapter 17
When Coran returned to the Cartwright estate, his head was swimming and his pockets were considerably lighter. He stumbled through the door and leaned against the wall, gathering his thoughts and trying to sober up. No doubt Lena would lecture him when she realised he had been drinking.
"And this is why you shouldn't drink Coran."
Coran closed his eyes when the voice echoed in his head, "Shuddup Bàs," Coran growled, "This is all your fault."
Bàs chuckled wryly, "Oh is it?"
"And why would that be?"
"If it weren't for you," Coran jabbed a finger at his head,"my whole dema demint, no, demanor .

"So Jared killed Minister Cartwright?" Lena asked Coran uncertainly, her voice hushed lest anyone in the inn hear them. Anyone could be working for Odero or just be nosey and start butting their noses into business that really didn't concern them at all.
Coran sighed and took a sip of the ale in front of him, "It's looking that way."
Weeks of investigation had brought up no new suspects, in fact no suspects at all. Everyone Coran and Lena had spoken to had seem incredibly surprised by the news that a young man had started going to the house in the months leading to the Minister's death.
"But what I don't get is why no one knew.
Eight Sacred Souls- chapter 15CHAPTER 15
The Cartwright residence was obscenely grand. The manor was big enough to house a small army. It probably did, when one took into consideration the number of servants hired to work at the Cartwright residence. Every inch of the house was covered with the finest materials; absolutely nothing was second best. The grounds rolled out as far as the eye could see. Coran pitied the gardeners charged with keeping the grounds presentable.
It had turned out that the man who had met them at the station was Matthew Cartwright. No wonder he had looked so haunted, Coran thought as he reclined further in the velvet chair by the window.

"You do realise I can barely see where I'm going."
Eron didn't even afford her a glance back, "I wasn't no, but thank you for informing me on you're current predicament."
Aria peeked around the pile she was carrying, "I hate you."
"Hate is such a strong word."
"You're the Soul of Strength, I'm sure you can cope with it."
"That smart mouth is going to be the death of you, young lady." Eron commented darkly.
"Already dead my friend."
"You're half dead."
Eron slowed to a stop and Aria walked into the back of him, unable to see him due to the inordinate amount of stuff he had her carrying.
Eight Sacred Souls chapter 11Aria studied Eron, and Eron studied Aria, "You're smaller than I expected."
"You were expecting someone taller?"
"Yes, after everything I've heard I was expecting someone taller."
Aria glared at Eron, "Sorry to disappoint. And don't speak down to me like that."
"Let's be honest Aria, I can hardly talk up to you can I? You're too small."
"Oh haha, everyone's a comedian."
Eron grunted in reply before walking ahead without warning. Aria scrambled through the crowds after him, not letting herself be distracted by the stalls, knowing fine well that if she did, Eron wouldn't think twice about leaving her. When she finally caught up to him, sh

Coran sat in Yuu's office, still in shock about what had been said. Asnar, Gatheu, and Zona had long since left.
"Coran?" Yuu asked gently, "Coran, are you okay?"
Coran blinked and looked up at Yuu, "Yeah, I'm just not sure how I'm supposed to react to this."
Yuu smiled wryly, "This is one of those moments in life where there is no correct way to act, Coran, you'll have to figure this one out for yourself."
Coran nodded, " I know." His voice was barely more than a whisper. Asnar was going to give him hell. He'd probably have already told Xavor, so Xavor would give him hell. Ha! This was going to be fun. So much fun " I
